Flipkart Fashion commences new brand named Metronaut which will be exclusive for men casual wear.
Rishi Vasudev, Vice-President, Fashion at Flipkart, told BusinessLine that, Metronaut is a combination of Metro Astronaut, with the black and white logo designed to resemble a spaceship. The brand is targeted at youth migrating to metros with hopes and dreams of building a bright future for themselves.
Vasudev claims that in India, fashion wear industry, especially for men, is one of the fastest growing in online selling space in which Flipkart e-commerce major covers 35% of market share and with Myntra and Jabong the overall market share is 70%.
Apparel is a one-lakh-crore market wherein, sub-Rs1,000 apparel constitutes 60 per cent of the demand. While there are strong global menswear brands and home-grown brands with popular product lines, there is a huge opportunity to offer a high-quality, well-designed, affordable product line that will take on the unorganised market thats where Metronaut comes in, said Vasudev.
